Upgrading to a Newer Version of Licensing Software on Windows

You may need to support applications that require a newer version of licensing software.

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. Shut down the license manager.
    1. From the Start menu, choose Mentor Licensing > lmtools. The LMTOOLS window opens in the Service/License File tab.
    2. Select Configuration using Services and select your service.
    3. Click the Start/Stop/Reread tab and click the Stop Server button.
    4. Close the LMTOOLS window.
  2. Install the current PCLS on the workstation running your Mentor license server.
    1. From Account Center, download the most recent version of PCLS: https://account.mentor.com/licenses/download.
    2. Save the Windows .zip file to a location on your system.
    3. Extract the files.
    4. Double-click the setup file. This opens the Install Mentor Licensing window.
    5. Click Update.
  3. Ensure that the DAEMON line in the license file points to the correct location of mgcld.exe.

    For example:

    C:\MentorGraphics\Licensing\mgcld.exe
  4. Restart the server and verify that the daemons are running and the version is correct.
    1. From the Start menu, choose Mentor Licensing > lmtools. The LMTOOLS window opens in the Service/License File tab.
    2. Select Configuration using Services and select your service.
    3. Click the Start/Stop/Reread tab and click the Start Server button.
    4. Click the Config Services tab and click the View Log button.
    5. A window opens showing the server debug log file. Scroll the log file window to verify that the daemons are running and the version is correct.
    6. Click the Close Log button in the Config Services tab.
    7. Close the LMTOOLS window.
